Terms of use.

1. Who we are

This website (nordiccurator.com) is operated by Nordic Curator AS, a private company registered in Oslo, Norway (organization number on request). Throughout these terms, "we", "us" and "Nordic Curator" refer to Nordic Curator AS. "You" refers to any visitor to this website.

2. What we do

Nordic Curator is an editorial referral studio. Our role is to:

• Publish editorial content about Norwegian active travel - the Field Guide (or, in the British edition, Field Notes), the Lexicon, and the curated journey descriptions.
• Read what you have in mind when you write to us, and recommend two or three Norwegian operators we have vetted and worked with.
• Introduce you to the operator you choose. They take over from that point with their own booking, contract, payment system and terms.
• Remain quietly available for editorial follow-up during planning and, if needed, during the trip itself.

3. What we are not

We are not a tour operator, travel agent, or reseller of package travel. Specifically:

• We do not sell or organize package travel within the meaning of the Norwegian Package Travel Act (Pakkereiseloven) or the EU Package Travel Directive 2015/2302.
• We do not hold your money at any point. There is no payment processing on this website.
• We do not issue invoices to travelers. All invoicing is done by the Norwegian operator you book with.
• We are not registered with ABTA, ATOL, USTOA or ASTA - none of which apply to our model, because we do not sell or operate trips.

4. The booking relationship

When you accept one of our recommendations and we introduce you to a Norwegian operator, your subsequent booking is a contract between you and that operator. Their terms and conditions, their privacy policy, and their cancellation rules apply to your journey.

We verify before recommending an operator that they are registered in Norway, hold current Reisegarantifondet (Norwegian Travel Guarantee Fund) membership where the law requires it, and have appropriate insurance and qualifications for the activity. Reisegarantifondet protects your prepayment if a member operator becomes insolvent. We will tell you the operator's Reisegarantifondet membership status before you book.

5. How we are paid

Nordic Curator earns a small referral commission from the operator after you have traveled. This commission is paid by the operator, not added to your bill. The price you pay the operator is identical to the price you would pay if you contacted them directly.

We disclose this commercial relationship openly in our How we work page. We do not accept paid placement; operators cannot pay to be in our network or for higher placement in a recommendation.

6. Editorial accuracy

We work hard to keep everything on this website accurate, including operator details, pricing ranges, departure dates, route descriptions and the editorial content of the Field Guide and Lexicon. However:

• Prices, availability and program details are set by the Norwegian operator and may change without notice between the moment you read the site and the moment you contact us. The figures on the site are indicative; the binding price is the one quoted to you by the operator at the time of booking.
• Editorial pieces in the Field Guide, Field Notes and Lexicon are written carefully but reflect the writer's informed view, not a guarantee of fact in every detail. Cite primary sources for technical decisions (weather, avalanche, safety).
• We do not undertake to keep historical articles updated indefinitely; the "Published" date on each piece is your reference point.

7. Liability

Nordic Curator's role ends at the editorial introduction. The operator is responsible for the actual delivery of the journey, including all safety, transport, accommodation, equipment and staff arrangements. Our liability for any matter arising out of the operator's performance is excluded to the maximum extent permitted by Norwegian law.

We are responsible for the accuracy of our own editorial introductions and recommendations to the extent that any inaccuracy was the result of our negligence and caused you direct, foreseeable loss. We are not responsible for indirect, consequential or special losses (loss of enjoyment, missed connections beyond the operator's control, third-party flight cancellations, weather, force majeure).

You retain all statutory rights as a consumer under Norwegian law, including those under the Norwegian Marketing Control Act (Markedsføringsloven), and where applicable the Package Travel Act when dealing with a Reisegarantifondet-member operator.

8. Intellectual property

All editorial content on this website - the Field Guide, Field Notes, Lexicon, journey descriptions, photography credits, layout and visual identity - is the intellectual property of Nordic Curator AS or its licensors. You may quote short passages for personal, non-commercial use with attribution. Republishing whole articles, mirroring the site, or training machine-learning systems on the content without our explicit written permission is not allowed.

Photographs are credited individually under each image and are used under licence from the relevant photographer, operator or tourism authority (most commonly Visit Norway / Innovation Norway).

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the website to send abusive enquiries, to attempt to disrupt the service, to scrape content for republication or AI training, or for any unlawful purpose. We may block IPs or contact methods that abuse the inquiry form or the chat assistant.

10. Changes to these terms

We update these terms occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes are highlighted at the top of the page for at least 30 days.

11. Governing law and venue

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes that cannot be resolved by friendly correspondence are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Oslo Tingrett (Oslo District Court). EU consumers retain the right to bring proceedings in the consumer's country of residence where required by EU consumer-protection law.
